Advanced Middle School
At Briarmeadow, all middle school students in grades 6 through 8 participate in an advanced academic program designed to prepare them for success in high school, college, and beyond. Our curriculum includes advanced coursework in all core subjects, with students earning high school credit for Algebra I and Spanish I in 8th grade. These classes move at an accelerated pace, require greater independence, and are crafted to challenge motivated learners.
Students who are typically ready for this level of academic rigor have earned As and Bs in 4th and 5th grade and passed both STAAR Reading Language Arts and Math at the Approaches level or higher. Just as important, our program values growth mindset and determination. Students who are willing to work hard, take academic risks, and learn from challenges tend to thrive in our environment.
Every student is expected to maintain a minimum grade of 70 or higher to remain in advanced placement, with additional support provided through a daily afternoon intervention/enrichment block. Beyond core academics, students explore a variety of electives including art, theater, creative writing, photography, yearbook, PE, library/study skills, and Odyssey of the Mind.
Recognized for excellence, Briarmeadow’s middle school consistently ranks among the top 5 in the Greater Houston area and top 10 in the state of Texas. Our program offers a strong foundation for academic success while encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth.
