Meet the Leadership Team

Lisa H

Lisa Hernandez, Principal

Ms. Hernandez is the proud principal of Briarmeadow, where she brings over 25 years of dedicated service to public education. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of instructional and leadership roles, including classroom teacher across multiple grade levels and content areas, math specialist, International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program Coordinator, dean, and assistant principal. She has spent the majority of her time in upper elementary grades, where she cultivated a passion for inquiry-based learning as an IB PYP teacher.

Now in her 10th year as a principal in Houston ISD, Ms. Hernandez has led with purpose and passion at several campuses, primarily in the West Division, building strong school cultures rooted in academic excellence and community partnership. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her master’s degree in educational administration from Texas State University. Ms. Hernandez is deeply committed to fostering inclusive, high-quality learning environments where all students thrive.

Tom Thompson, Assistant Principal

Mr. Thompson brings over 20 years of experience in the field of education and is proud to serve the Briarmeadow community. Originally from Pennsylvania, he has called Houston home for over 25 years. Throughout his career, he has worked in a variety of districts, including Fort Bend ISD and Lamar Consolidated ISD, and has served in multiple roles—teacher, coach, Assistant Principal, and Principal—across both elementary and middle school levels.

With a strong background as a Science educator, Mr. Thompson is passionate about supporting middle school students through high-quality instruction, meaningful relationships, and a focus on the skills they need to be successful in high school and beyond.

He is the proud father of one son, Drake, and enjoys spending time outdoors. A true Pennsylvanian at heart, he’s a dedicated Penn State football fan—We Are Penn State!

Danitra Davenport, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Davenport is honored to serve as an Assistant Principal at Briarmeadow, bringing over a decade of experience as a primary classroom teacher, instructional coordinator, and Neuhaus-trained dyslexia interventionist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development from The University of Texas at Austin and holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy studies.

A proud product of Houston ISD, Mrs. Davenport began her journey as a student at Harvard Elementary and has spent her entire career in the district. She focuses on supporting instruction in PK–2nd grade, with a deep belief in building strong foundations in literacy and whole-child development. Passionate about joyful and inclusive classrooms, she is committed to helping every student feel seen, supported, and inspired to grow.

Sarah Hassan, Teacher Specialist

Mrs. Hassan has been a dedicated member of the Briarmeadow community for over 20 years and currently serves as one of the campus teacher specialists. In this role, she supports teachers, students, and families through data analysis, testing coordination, scheduling, and school choice processes. Sarah began her career as a classroom teacher, teaching grades 4–8 for over a decade. She continues to work closely with teachers to strengthen instruction and improve student outcomes across the campus. Sarah earned her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Houston. In May 2025, she earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University, further deepening her commitment to instructional excellence and campus support.

A proud former Briarmeadow parent (x3) and lifelong Houstonian, Ms. Hassan brings both professional expertise and personal investment to the success of the Briarmeadow community.  Outside of school, Sarah loves watching Houston Cougar basketball and the Houston Astros.  She will also never turn down chips and queso! A firm believer in two things can coexist at the same time: Go Coogs and Gig 'Em!

Lindsay Flor, IB Coordinator and Teacher Specialist

Ms. Flor is proud to begin her 7th year as a Briarmeadow Bronco, where she serves as the IB PYP Coordinator, GT Coordinator, and Teacher Specialist. With 13 years of experience in education, she brings deep expertise in literacy instruction and inquiry-based learning.
